Why Do I Have To Pay For Wireless Internet In My Hotel Room?
I have a bone to pick with some hotels. We stayed at the Napa Marriott hotel a few weeks ago. This is a nice large hotel with a number of amenities available. It is designed for the business traveler during the week and the wine goers on the weekend. When we checked in, we asked if there was Internet access available in the room. They said "yes, there is a place on the desk where you can plug your computer into the network cable and we also offer wireless, but you have to pay $9.95 per 24 hour period for these services. If you want you can sit in the lobby where wireless is free". This is where I go crazy! If this hotel wants to be "Up to date" they need to have FREE wireless in every room. My room was already set up for a wireless connection, but I would have to pay to access it! I didn't want to spend an additional $9.95 to check my email messages. So what ended up happening after a very long day working, we then had a very nice dinner, which included wine. When I got back to the hotel I had to go into the cold lobby with my laptop to check my email! Why???? If I'm paying good money to stay in this hotel, why should I have to pay extra for something that is already set up in my room? If they didn't have wireless set up in the room, then I could understand going into the lobby. I say shame on any descent hotel these days if they don't have free wireless available for their customers. If you have an answer please let me know.
